I have only seen the shakes all over Facebook, Instagram..choose your favorite social media platform. After months of saying I'll visit, the visit happened to celebrate a birthday in the family.
Taking the subway A-line downtown to Canal Street, you're a five minute walk away from the most delicious One World Trade Center in the skyline. As you walk closer, you can see the line forming outside the store. This location happens to have an upstairs and downstairs location. Once you're there, you can put your name down to to a waiter outside with an iPad to hold your place until a table becomes available.
The upstairs portion of the restaurant has stools available for smaller group or for ordering shakes. However, the brave folks attempting to eat dinner with a shake, are invited downstairs. Larger groups of people will also be directed downstairs where they have different options for table sizes.
Their menu is simple with a few options for their different categories with their highlights being their craft burgers and their shakes. In a group of a five people, we decided to each order burger and only order two shakes to share amongst the group. I was between a few options but when I saw chipotle and jalapenos, I knew I had to go with The Mexico City; it contains pepperjack cheese, pickles jalapenos, chipotle mayo and a crispy onion ring. The burger comes deconstructed with the lettuce, tomato and pickles and you can assemble yourself according to what you like.
After placing everything inside your burger, it's has quite a height to it. You can blame the monstrous onion ring inside of it. Great burger but everyone worked through their burger quickly to get to the showstopper: the shake.
When you place your order, you order the burgers and shakes at the same time. After carefully going through the menu, we had decided to go with the Oreo Cookies and Cream and the Cotton Candy shake. I was amazed how both of the shakes kept their structure for quite some time while we were guzzling down the burgers. The royal icing on the outskirts of the cup kept the little candy pieces in place. The Oreo cookies and cream had Oreo bits sprinkled on top with a cookies and cream inside the cup. The best part was the Blue Bunny Oreo ice cream sandwich on top. It was the first thing I attacked. On the other hand, there was the cotton candy shake with the strawberry shake inside, surrounded by M&M-like candy on the rim topped with a lollipop and strips of cotton candy.
Overall, this place had a great atmosphere to hang out with family and enjoy some great food. The food was not only top notch but was presented creatively. With different locations in the city, I can't wait to visit the other locations. If you have any questions, feel free to ask below!
