There's never a bad time to go out with family and tonight it was with my little sister and dad. A Blu Alehouse opened up in town and it was about time we went to go visit it.
It's located in a shopping strip so there's plenty of parking. When you walk in, you have an option of getting a booth or sitting by the bar. If you need to catch the game, there isn't a shortage of TV's at this location. You can watch the game at multiple angles.
When your server comes around with the menu be sure to ask them what specials they have; they're always coming up with interesting deals. When we went, they had the beer flights to start us off where you can mix and match four brews from their menu; its a great opportunity to try out some local beer. We looked over the menu to munch on something to pair with the beer. They'll denote the alehouse favorites with a blue flame to the left of the item. We decided to try the Blu Nachos with tortilla chips layered with some BBQ pulled pork, cheddar jack cheese, peppadew peppers, scallions and sour cream. The cheese was perfectly melted to keep the goodies on top of the crispy tortilla however I wish they had just a dash more of the slow roasted pulled pork.
Moving on to bigger and badder things, I followed the nachos up with the Colorado Burger that consisted of a bison burger topped with bleu cheese crumbles, bacon and sauteed mushrooms and onions. For having a bison patty for the first time, I really enjoyed it. The saltiness from the bleu cheese and the bacon are necessary for the burger and who doesn't like warm, sweet sauteed onions? The burgers on this menu are also served with steak fries. If you need to make any changes such as a gluten free bun or gluten-free menu, they'll gladly be able to assist you. I can't wait to be back again to try something new!
