After a long mass at church, my sisters and I were craving some good Indian food. Of course we headed over to Oak Tree Road in Edison to see what our options were and we headed over to Dimple'ls Bombay Talk. Their private parking lot was packed but no worries, there's a free public parking lot right around the corner. Walking into the store, there was a staff member that greets you and walks you over to a free table. They had a paper menu with pictures and descriptions if you're not familiar what the names mean.
When you arrive at the table, they already had water in a pitcher sitting there..slightly questionable. When the waiter comes around, they provide you with paper cups for the water. The plastic plates and utensils come when your food arrives.
I was craving some good old Samosa Chaat ($6.25, left) this morning so I was ecstatic to see that they had it at this location! Inside they had one samosa inside topped with a chick pea curry on top drizzled with some yogurt, chopped onions and parsley. The chick pea curry was bit heavier on the salt for my taste but the yogurt was key to level it out.
Of course that wasn't enough! We also tried the Dahi Puri ($6.25, right) with about 12 mini pieces. It reminds me of Pani Puri filled with yogurt, chick peas and topped off with small fried noodle pieces. No need for any dipping sauces on the side; each individual piece holds up nicely. I mean, who doesn't like filled fried pieces of crispy dough? If you thought we had enough of the Dahi Puri, you're incorrect. But, this time, the entree version is called the
Khasta Kachori.
Walking on Oak Tree Road, there's was always a large waiting line outside and now we know why. It's a quick place for you to stop and grab a bite in between all of the shopping. If they're full inside, they have two tables outside for you to eat and people watch. Can't wait to be back here and try their mango lassi during my favorite walk on Oak Tree Road in Edison.
