Enjoying a Tasty Moment

Updated: Jun 6, 2019

Found myself knee deep in Instagram posts of bubble tea locations in Edison and I stumbled across a picture of Taro bubble tea inside of a light bulb. A light bulb! The Yelper inside of me knew I had to go to Tasty Moment and see what this light bulb craze was all about.

I took my parents with me to help them discover the world outside of Indian food and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves at Tasty Moment. We wanted to try a little bit of everything so we ordered a few items we can munch on. First we had the Cucumber in Garlic Sauce. How can something so simple taste so good? Cold cucumbers lightly tossed in a soy, garlic sauce. It was a little bowl just enough to peak our interest for what came next.

I've never had Dim Sum before so I was really excited to try it! It's usually served inside of a basket where it was steamed so when they come out, it's hot! Dim sum can vary depending on where you go however we had one with spicy pork on the inside with liquid on the bottom. The liquid definitely helped keep the pork moist during the cooking process but just be cautious when you're taking your first bite! My white shirt learned the hard way!

We ordered the Fried Rice on Fire just because the name was interesting. Was it really on fire when they brought it out? Yes, I actually thought about it. It was a normal fried rice dish with a circular shape...nothing special to it. It was good but not great (unless it was actually on fire). When the Egg Pancake came out, I was a little disappointed. It was essentially egg inside two pancake-like pieces with scallions running inside the batter. The one thing I remember was how greasy my fingers were after eating my first piece.

I can't decide whether the star of the day was the Garlic Crispy Pork Chop or the Taro Bubble Milk Tea. The pork chop was exactly as the menu said it was: garlic crispy. I was amazed at how well they infused the garlic into the meat but also how crispy it remained while we were eating all of the other items. As for the bubble tea, it was taro flavored and made right as you ordered it. It was shaken to perfection and poured inside the light bulb with the tapioca on the bottom. The tapioca was in mint condition, nice and chewy. Other bubble tea flavors you can choose from are original, green tea, mango, taro, matcha and red bean.

Overall, I was extremely happy with our visit their. We had a hard time reading the menu but our server literally went over the menu with us. They were also accommodating to my mom who was vegetarian and offered some great suggestions. The private parking lot was limited but it won't stop me from visiting again!

<<< The food was so good she can't wait to come again.
