What's better than a double date? A quadruple date! Toro's is a great place to gather with family and friends to share a meal and discuss updates while drinking the night away with some BYOW, the moscato.
With Kevin in NJ, we're doing family and friend rounds to hang out with everyone and this was a favorite with my friends. There are other locations however with this one being the newest to the string of restaurants, we visited this one.
The inside looked the same as the other ones with plenty of seating. I panicked at first with the thought of trying to find street parking on a Saturday night however there's a parking lot in the back and better yet, free (yay, more quarters!). Walking through a very questionable alleyway, we reached the front of the restaurant, easy to find from the street. We sat down with our friends greeted with a beautiful bottle of moscato and eagerly looked through the menu for an item to try. They bring over a bread basket accompanied with olive oil with balsamic vinegar drizzled on top. Simple yet tastes good while you're waiting for the ana yemekler (entrees).
My husband, being a lamb-lover, ordered the adana kebab (skewered ground lamb, picture 3). The adana kebab was flavored with red bell peppers, grilled and lightly seasoned with paprika. I got the tavuk kebab, chicken kebab, lean chunks of chicken, tenderized with milk thats been skewered and grilled over the grill. Both of the dishes come with plain rice and flavored rice with a grilled tomato and green pepper. On the side there's a yogurt sauce in a little dish with dill. Try the grilled tomato. Trust me, you'll like it.
Although chicken and lamb are cooked various ways, a lot of places over cook the meat however I've never found that to be the case here. The chicken was easy to cut into yet charred beautifully on the corners.
