During my commute into the city, I had hoped for an artisanal donut spot and my dreams came true when the new location of Underwest Donuts opened up right outside of NY Penn Station.
Facing 7th Avenue, this tiny take-out donut shop is easy to pass if you're in a hurry. I took a right after I got off the escalators and saw the window of donuts. There have twelve donuts flavors there and every once in a while they'll throw in a seasonal flavor. The body of their donuts is an old fashioned donut with different topping. Some of your options are cinnamon, espresso bean and coco raspberry in the sugared category. For glazed, they have the maple waffle, dark chocolate, brown butter and more.
Carwash (Vanilla-Lavendar)
With the body of an old fashioned, there is a vanilla glaze on top that's infused with lavender. Can you taste the lavender? Barely. However, the donut was good. It has more body to it as opposed to an air-filled Dunkin Donuts donut. It's crumbly. Would I order it again? Yes! Will I be back? Absolutely!
